The rainstorm of March 2018 washed away the road to the far north of Kauai, closing access to snorkeling at Tunnels and Ke'e Beaches. Great progress in repair has been completed and the word is that the road north of Hanalei will be opening soon.
The good news it that Anini Beach has remained open. Anini Beach, located in on the north shore of Kauai, in Kilauea, stretches on for miles along the coastline. Kalihiwai Road, then left on Anini Road will take you to Anini Beach Park with restrooms and parking. If you continue on the road you will find plenty of spots where you can pull off to park. Grab your gear and a step or two will land you on your bit of quiet beach. Be sure to pack lunch, water, reef friendly sun screen, beach chairs, towels and snorkel equipment. You will likely want to enjoy this Kauai beach for a while.
